Two men were seriously hurt in an industrial accident Thursday afternoon at a multi-residential construction site near Salt Lake City's West High School.

Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Mark Bednarik said the men were injured at about 1 p.m. on the 6th floor of building under construction at 255 N. 400 West.

By 1:30 p.m., the workers — in serious condition — were being transported by ambulances to the Intermountain Medical Center with various injuries, Bednarik said.

The workers were on a scissor lift when the accident, which resulted in "crushing injuries," occurred.

Bednarik said specifics were not immediately available.

Salt Lake City police was on the scene to investigate and coordinate with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, he said.
