Salt Lake City police say they have arrested two teenagers suspected of plotting a shooting at their high school, but there is no evidence they could have carried it out.

Police Detective Veronica Montoya said Thursday officers began investigating after getting a tip that two Highland High School students were talking about a shooting at their school.

Investigators talked to the teens and arrested them on suspicion of making terroristic threats Wednesday afternoon. They were booked into a juvenile detention center.

Montoya says neither teen made threats directly to anyone at the school. There is no evidence that they had any weapons, and it is not clear how often they discussed the idea. She declined to say how old they are.
