A Colorado man died Saturday in a skiing accident at Park City Resort.

The 48-year-old man from Aspen was skiing on an advanced trail at the resort when he crashed into a tree, according to a statement from the Park City Police Department on Sunday.

About 10:20 a.m., ski patrol and emergency responders tried to save the man's life. But he "ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was not transported to a hospital," the police statement adds.

Police are waiting to identify the man until they can notify his relatives.
