An argument between two drivers on Thursday led to a road rage shooting in West Valley City that injured two people, police said.

The argument, over driving, started about 5:50 p.m. at 3450 W. 3100 South, according to a West Valley City Police Department news release. The drivers reached 3100 S. Bangerter Highway, exchanged words and continued west on 3100 South, the release said.

The suspect began following the other vehicle, a van that was occupied by six family members, the release said. When the van driver tried to make a left hand turn at 4300 West, the suspect allegedly passed by and fired several shots into the van.

A 19-year-old woman and a boy were hit and suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the police department. Police didn't specify the age of the boy.

Officers are looking for a compact four-door car, dark gray or flat black with red rims and a red spoiler. The driver is described as a 30- to 40-year-old man, possibly Hispanic or Polynesian.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about it to call 801-840-4000.
