A chain-reaction accident caused no serious injuries, but it did create a freeway-closing mess for Thursday morning commuters near the Salt Lake-Davis county line.

The Utah Highway Patrol reported that several vehicles were involved in the 6:30 a.m. incident on northbound I-215, just prior to the 3000 North/Redwood Road exit. Along with the wreckage, oil leaked onto the asphalt, making the roadway slick in places.

One person was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, UHP said.

Traffic, initially backed up for miles, was diverted onto Interstate 15 or the Legacy Highway while the accident scene was cleared. By 9 a.m., motorists were once more allowed back onto I-215.
