Police are hunting for a male suspect who claimed to have a bomb during a holdup at an east Salt Lake City bank late Monday afternoon.

Salt Lake City police Detective Robin Heiden said the suspect — a thin, 6-foot white male, about 30 years old, with a scraggly beard, wearing black clothing, including a cap with a Utah Jazz logo — entered the Zion's Bank branch office at 1304 S. Foothill Drive about 5 p.m.

The man approached a teller and, claiming he had an explosive device on his person, demanded cash. The teller complied and the suspect fled on foot into the Foothill Village shopping center parking lot.
