Police say a 64-year-old man died early Monday morning when his SUV crashed into a sign pole in downtown Orem.

Orem police Lt. Craig Martinez identified the victim as Dan Jorgensen, of Orem, who died at the hospital shortly after the 1:30 a.m. accident.

Jorgensen, who was not believed to be wearing a seatbelt, was northbound on State Street before his car drifted across the road, into the southbound lanes and then struck the pole at 142 S. Main Street.

No other injuries were reported.

While the accident remained under investigation, police said there was no initial evidence of drugs or alcohol being factors.
