An 11-month-old girl is in critical condition after police say she swallowed bath water.

The girl's mother was with her at their South Ogden home, on the 3600 South block of Orchard Avenue, when the girl swallowed the water, said police Sgt. Trent Olsen.

The mother called 911 about 2:20 p.m., and the girl was taken to Ogden Regional Medical Center before a helicopter moved her to Primary Children's Hospital, Olsen said.

The girl was crying when medical personnel arrived at the home, which Olsen noted as a good sign, but added that the staff at the Ogden hospital did not want to take any chances.
