A 3-year-old girl drowned Wednesday in a bathtub at her West Valley City home, police say.
The mother had placed the child in a lukewarm bath to try to get a fever down and left the bathroom, police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said. She said the girl slipped under the water while she was gone and died despite resuscitation efforts at the home and in the hospital.
Detectives are investigating but the drowning appears to be a tragic accident, Vainuku said.
