When it comes to food, the Utah Arts Festival has something for every taste.
Those with sophisticated palates might munch at the Tapas Tent, where chef Robert Sullivan and his crew from Utah Food Services will be preparing their "epicuriosity" menu, a selection of five small plates that range from $6.50 to $10 each. Options include an herb-crusted beef tenderloin, seared Ahi tuna, diver scallops, shrimp scampi and a white chocolate mousse dessert, which can be enjoyed with a beverage from the wine and beer tent next door.
Sullivan said people who attend the festival are generally curious about new things -- including food. "This allows them to come in and get a little taste of something new," he said. The food is cooked to order, so visitors can see how the dishes are prepared.
There's an added benefit to ordering in the Tapas Tent: There will be several shaded tables with a view of the festival stage. "It's front-row seating," Sullivan said.
On the other end of Library Square -- and the food spectrum --is the children's Art Yard, where kids can enjoy a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich with plain or chocolate milk for $2. The money will be donated to charity.
Festival organizers also have lined up 18 other food vendors offering all sorts of fare, including hot dogs, kabobs, tacos, Philly cheese -steak sandwiches, teriyaki and gelato.
