Halloween events abound

Now is the time to get into the Halloween spirit with the following:

A Halloween Carnival with costume contests, bounce houses, haunted houses, karaoke, games, storytelling, movies and games is from 6-9 p.m. today at the Columbus Center, 2531 S. 400 East. For information, call 801-412-3217.

The Indian Walk-In Center hosts a Halloween Carnival: "Literacy for Healthy Spirits" at 6 p.m. today at 120 W. 1300 South. For information, call 801-486-4877 or 1-866-687-4942.

Tracy Aviary Pirate Port Plays is at 5:30 p.m. today. Children in costume get admitted free. For all others it's $1 with admission. The aviary is at 589 E. 1300 South. For information, call 801-596-8500 or visit http://www.tracyaviary.org.

"Zoosnooz: Spooky Sleepover," for grades 4-6, is from 6 p.m. today through 9 a.m. Saturday at Hogle Zoo, 2600 E. Sunnyside. Breakfast and a light evening snack will be served. Cost is from $60 to $70. Advance registration is required by calling Linda at 801-584-1763.

"Haunted Deseret," a guided tour and ghostly stories at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., or "Sleepy Hollow," an improv show complete with horseless rider at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., today through Monday (no Sunday), at This is The Place Heritage Park, 2601 Sunnyside. "A Wacky Witch's Wedding" is a comedy/murder mystery dinner show at 7 p.m. today through Monday (no Sunday) at The Radisson Hotel, 215 W. South Temple. Tickets are $30 by calling 801-569-1482 or visiting http://www.huntmysteries.com.

The free Monster Block Party is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday with trick or treating, contests and activities. From 6:30 to 8 p.m. is the movie "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" with popcorn and cotton candy, at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main St.
