U.S. Speedskating announced its roster for the upcoming long track World Cup circuit on Tuesday, and there are plenty of familiar names leading the way.

Of the 16 athletes named to the qualifying roster, 10 are Olympic veterans who have combined to make 19 Olympic teams. The skaters earned their starting positions on the ISU World Cup circuit this fall during the three-day World Cup qualifying event at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisc., over the weekend.

Reigning 500-meter World Cup champion Heather Bergsma, who won 18 World Cup medals last season, headlines the women's group. She finished atop the 500-meter, 1,000-meter, 1,500-meter and Mass Start categories in Milwaukee. Bergsma is joined by fellow Olympians Kelly Gunther and Sugar Todd.

Paige Schwartzburg and Petra Acker and Mia Manganello return to the World Cup scene, while Jerica Tandiman of Kearns earned her first World Cup roster spot. The most noticeable omission from the team is Brittany Bowe, the reigning World Cup champ in the 1,000- and 1,500-meter events. Bowe, who set a new 1,000-meter world record a year ago, suffered a concussion this summer and is dealing with lingering effects.

Bowe remains in a day-to-day recovery process while she is being re-evaluated weekly by team doctors and trainers. In accordance to U.S. Speedskating's rules, Bowe can earn a spot on the World Cup team once she's cleared medically due to her status as a medal contender from last year's results.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Shani Davis again leads the pack for the U.S. men. He's joined by four-time Olympian KC Boutiette, Joey Mantia, Mitch Whitmore, Jonathan Garcia, Emery Lehman, Kimani Griffin and Ian Quinn. Brian Hansen, a silver medalist from the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, qualified for the team after a two-year hiatus while attending the University of Colorado.

The ISU World Cup season begins in Harbin, China, on Nov. 11-13. —
