Utah's gymnastics team earned one and lost one, in a way, for its 2016 recruiting class.

Sabrina Schwab, an elite gymnast out of Lucas, Texas, signed a letter of intent, while MyKayla Skinner, who signed with the Utes in November and was a member of the gold medalist U.S. team at the 2014 World Championships, has decided to defer enrollment for a year to pursue a berth on the U.S. Olympic team.

The U.S. Olympic Trials are July 8-10 in San Jose, Calif.

Schwab trains at WOGA in Plano, Texas, and is expected to help the Utes, particularly on the uneven bars and balance beam — key areas the Utes must address since they graduate all-around gymnasts Tory Wilson, Corrie Lothrop, Georgia Dabritz and floor specialist Becky Tutka this year.

In November, the Utes signed Shannon McNatt (Houston, Texas), MaKenna Merrell (Pleasant Grove) and Erika Muhaw (Montville, N.J.).
