Wrapping up the past week in Utah sports, from Dec. 8 to Dec. 14.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (No. 14) • With two games remaining on Utah's brutal non conference slate, the Utes stand 7-2, and in both losses they gave top-25 teams (No. 10 Kansas, on Saturday, and No. 19 San Diego State) a run for their money on the road. Add to that that in a year without a football rivalry game, Larry Krystkowiak did his part — donning a red jacket, taking a good-natured press conference shot and then watching his team beat the Cougars at the Marriott Center on Wednesday night.

Utah held postseason practices for the first time in three years, and while media linked Kyle Whittingham and Kalani Sitake to coaching vacancies, it was former Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen who made headlines by bolting Wisconsin for Oregon State.
