USU football: Houston signs with Panthers

Former Utah State Aggies tight end Wyatt Houston signed with the Carolina Panthers and took part in their OTA practice session on Wednesday.

Houston, one of the school's all-time leading receiving tight ends, wrapped up his career this past fall. He initially signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. The Chiefs waived him following their rookie minicamp.

Houston, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound Oregon native, ranked third among the Aggies in receptions (35) and receiving yards (330) this past season. He graduated ranked second all-time among tight ends in USU history in career receptions (86), receiving yards (933) and touchdown receptions (nine).

Houston had a strong showing at the USU Pro Day at the end of March. Along with doing some long snapping for scouts at the end of the workout, he posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.7 and a vertical leap of 33.5 inches.
