Utah State Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hartwell announced on Monday afternoon that the university and head women's basketball coach Jerry FInkbeiner have agreed in principle on a three-year contract extension that will run through 2019-20.

Finkbeiner, who became the Aggies head coach in April 2012, has gone 71-83 (44-46) during his tenure at USU. This season, the Aggies have gone 16-13 (9-9 in Mountain West). They'll play in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament on Monday night against Air Force.

This season, the Aggies collected their most wins and their most Mountain West wins since the 2012-13 season, Finkbeiner's first as head coach.

Earlier on Monday, the Mountain West announced that Aggies sophomore Rachel Brewster had been named an honorable mention all-conference selection and freshman Eliza West had been picked as the league's freshman of the year. Shannon Dufficy joined West as an all-freshman selection.

"We are excited to extend coach Jerry Finkbeiner's contract as he continues to build our women's basketball program," Hartwell said in a release. "Under Jerry's leadership our program is trending up in the Mountain West and they have shown they can compete with any team in our league. I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish this postseason and in the future."
