Fort Collins • Utah State's attempt to get back on track was derailed Saturday night at Colorado State.

In front of 32,387 fans at Hughes Stadium, the Rams rallied from a 14-point deficit at halftime and scored a stunning 31-24 victory.

Junior quarterback Kent Myers ran for two touchdowns, but Utah State's offense stalled after building a 24-10 lead. The Aggies lost their third straight game — something they had not done since 2010.

Colorado State, which scored the go-ahead touchdown on Izzy Matthews' 5-yard run with 10:33 remaining, improved its record to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain West Conference.

Utah State, which drove inside the Ram 40-yard line three times in the fourth quarter but failed to score, slipped to 2-4 on the season and 0-3 in league play.

Colorado State controlled the game in the first quarter, thanks to the play of an offensive line that Utah State coach Matt Wells complemented during the week.

"They are very well-coached up front," he said. "They do a good job of moving guys off the ball."

On the Rams' opening possession, running back Dalyn Dawkins gained 48 yards on the first three plays.

"He's got some speed," Wells said. "He's got some juice.

Colorado State eventually drove to the Aggie 3 before stalling. The Rams settled for Wyatt Bryan's 21-yard field goal and a 3-0 lead.

Utah State quickly countered.

Redshirt freshman Gerold Bright capped the Aggies' first possession with a 41-yard run to make it 7-3. It was the first touchdown of his career.

After Colorado State regained a 10-7 lead, Myers' four-yard run with 1:25 left in the first quarter pushed the Aggies back in front. A 27-yard pass to freshman Rayshad Lewis was the key play on the drive.

Utah State's receivers "have been pretty consistent," Wells said. "We've had very few drops and they've made competitive catches. We're throwing it and catching it a little bit better than maybe I anticipated. They've done a nice job."

Early in the second quarter, Utah State bumped its lead to 21-10 on Myers' 14-yard touchdown run. Two plays earlier, it looked like the Rams had recovered his fumble. But the call was overturned after a review and the Aggies maintained possession.

By halftime, Utah State built a 24-10 lead, courtesy of Brock Warren's late 36-yard field goal, which nicked the upright but still went through.

The Aggies seemingly took control of the game by rushing for 174 yards in the first half — 61 more than their combined total in back-to-back losses to Air Force and Boise State. Tonny Lindsey Jr. picked up 89 yards on only 10 carries after managing 33 yards on 25 attempts against the Falcons and Broncos.
