Logan • Utah State went back-to-back Friday night.

Aggie linebackers Nick Vigil and Kyler Fackrell were taken with consecutive picks in the third round of the National Football League draft.

Cincinnati took Vigil, who went to Fremont High School, at No. 87. Moments later, Green Bay selected Fackrell with the 88th pick.

Vigil and Fackrell became the 14th and 15th players from Utah State to be drafted since 1990. Eight Aggies have been drafted in the past five years.

Vigil (6-2, 240) made 41 straight starts at Utah State, which finished 6-7 last season after a 23-21 loss to Akron in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

It was the Aggies' fifth straight bowl appearance.

Vigil had nine sacks last season. He made 60 stops against the run, which ranked third among all linebackers in this draft class. He finished his career with 324 tackles — 13th in school history.

The Bengals view Vigil as "league-ready. … [He is] a bright, instinctive guy that can play outside or inside in a 4-3," according to the team's website.

Head coach Marvin Lewis said Vigil has a chance to be a three-down player, which is one of the many reasons they drafted the red-shirt junior. He was heavily endorsed by special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons because of his speed.

"Their defense was ranked as a whole 17th in the country; they've got some pretty good linebackers," said Bengals linebacker coach Jim Haslett. "He's got great speed."

Vigil will follow his brother into the NFL.

Zach Vigil was a walk-on at Utah State but ended his career as the Mountain West Conference's Defensive Player of the Year. He was not drafted by an NFL team but, after signing as a free agent, played in 16 games for the Miami Dolphins last season.

Coming out of high school in Mesa, Ariz., Fackrell had exactly one scholarship offer — from Utah State.

He overcame a severe knee injury in the first game of the 2014 season at Tennessee to become one of the top linebackers to ever play at Utah State.

Fackrell (6-5, 245) averaged 6.3 tackled per game last season, when he led the country in recovered fumbles with five. He started all 13 games for the Aggies.

"It's a great team," Fackrell said on a teleconference phone call. "I'm so excited to be there and to learn and to contribute everything that I can. We're just grateful to be here right now and be part of the Packers organization."

Utah's Booker undrafted through 3 rounds

Utah running back Devontae Booker, projected by some analysts to get selected on the second day of the NFL draft, got bypassed on Friday. Four running backs were selected in the first three rounds: Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas, No. 4 overall), Alabama's Derrick Henry (Tennessee, No. 45), Notre Dame's C.J. Prosise (Seattle, No. 90) and Alabama's Kenyan Drake (Miami, No. 73).
