Logan • Utah State will play non-Mountain Division opponents San Diego State, Fresno State and Nevada during the 2016 football season, it was announced Thursday.

The Mountain West Conference uses an unbalanced schedule. Each teams plays its five division opponents and three from the other division. Every team plays eight conference games — four at home and four on the road.

Next season, Utah State will play Air Force, New Mexico, San Diego State and Fresno State in Logan. The Aggies will play Boise State, Colorado State, Wyoming and Nevada on the road.

Utah State will not play West Division members San Jose State, UNLV or Hawaii.

Specific dates for the games, as well as starting times and television schedules, will be announced at a later date, according to the Mountain West.

Utah State opens the season on Sept. 1 against Weber State at renovated Maverick Stadium. The Aggies visit USC on Sept. 10 before playing host to Arkansas State on Sept. 17. They conclude the regular season on Nov. 26 at BYU.

Utah State finished 6-7 last season, including a 23-21 loss to Akron in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. It was the Aggies' fifth straight bowl appearance.
