Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton's career isn't over yet.

Keeton, whose past two seasons have been cut short by knee injuries, will get one more chance to lead the Aggies. On Friday, he was officially awarded another year of eligibility by the NCAA.

Having Keeton for another season makes the Aggies extremely deep at quarterback, since Darell Garretson and Kent Myers, both of whom played during the 2014 season, also return.

The Aggies also have Damion Hobbs, a former Oregon quarterback who redshirted in 2014, available.

USU coach Matt Wells said Keeton is doing well with his rehab but will decide later how much Keeton will participate in spring ball.

Keeton tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee against BYU on Oct. 4, 2013, then suffered another injury to the same knee against Wake Forest on Sept. 13, 2014.

Keeton, from H+ouston, entered the 2014 season with the backing of a Heisman campaign, but he didn't look like the dynamic quarterback he was in 2012, when he ranked 17th nationally in total offense (307.1) and led the Aggies to an 11-2 record.

Keeton played just over two games, completing 51 of 92 passes for 426 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 20 carries, 81 yards and a touchdown.

However, the surgically repaired knee limited his mobility; he came up limping several times after plays. He left the field for the final time in 2014 at halftime of the Aggies' 36-24 win over the Deacons.

At the time, USU said the injury wouldn't end his season, but Wells later said more exams indicated that the best thing for Keeton was to sit out the remainder of the year.

Keeton's injury was just the first for the Aggies at quarterback. Garretson suffered a season-ending wrist injury, then his replacement, Craig Harrison, was sidelined with a knee injury.

The Aggies finished the year with Myers, a freshman, running the offense. He played in seven games, completing 79 of 119 passes for 866 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed 56 times for 310 yards and five touchdowns.

Myers was named the offensive MVP of the New Mexico Bowl after the Aggies beat UTEP 21-6 to finish the season 10-4.

In the bowl game, Myers was 5 of 12 passing for 68 yards with an interception and rushed 15 times for 70 yards and a touchdown.
