Las Vegas • Utah State prevailed in one battle Saturday night.

During their 79-77 overtime loss at UNLV, the Aggies outrebounded an opponent for only the third time in 19 games this season.

Utah State grabbed 42 rebounds. The Rebels, who joined Wayland Baptist and San Jose State as the only Aggie opponents to be beaten on the glass, finished with 33.

"We knew we were going to have to box them our and get some rebounds," said Utah State sophomore forward Jalen Moore, who finished with 12.

"We did better in that category and it helped us. I think we outplayed them most of the game. Maybe not in the first half but in the second half and overtime. We put ourselves in position to win and we have to capitalize on that."

Moore also scored with 14 points, including 12 in the final 3:11 of regulation and overtime. He reached double figures for the 17th straight game, although that was no consolation after the loss.

Cowboys up next

Utah State squandered a five-point lead in the final 49 seconds of regulation and a six-point lead with three minutes left in overtime.

The Aggies don't have much time to regroup, however.

Wyoming, which leads the Mountain West Conference, invades the Spectrum on Tuesday night.

"It's tough loss," Moore said. "We had a chance … but we've got to put it behind us. We have the best team in the conference coming so we can't hang our head."
