For a fourth straight summer, Kyle Beckerman is off with the U.S. men's national team for a major tournament.

The Real Salt Lake captain was named to Jurgen Klinsmann's 23-man roster for the upcoming Copa America Centenario in the United States.

Beckerman, whose had a major role in the U.S. midfield since Klinsmann took over in 2011, has started at the past two CONCACAF Gold Cups as well as the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The 34-year-old defensive midfielder has 52 career caps and returned to the starting lineup in a 4-0 defeat of Guatemala in a World Cup qualifier on March 29.

The Copa America will be Beckerman's sixth international competition with the senior national team. Beckerman and goalkeeper Brad Guzan are the only two players on the roster to have played in a Copa America, when the two starred at the 2007 tournament.

The inclusion of RSL's dreadlocked midfielder spells his absence from the last two matches of RSL's five-game road trip. Beckerman will miss the match at Columbus on March 28 and at New York City FC on June 2.

Klinsmann left RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando off the 23-man roster, opting to go with youngster Ethan Horvath as the third goalkeeper behind Guzan and Tim Howard. Rimando was part of the 23-man roster for the World Cup in Brazil and has 21 career caps for the U.S.

The U.S. was drawn into Group A in this summer's Copa America and will face off against Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica. The first match of the tournament for the Americans will be against Colombia on Friday, June 3, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

"This roster really was put together based on what we saw over the last year, and it's one that makes us the strongest team possible to compete in Copa America and to hopefully surprise a lot of people," said Klinsmann in a release. "We feel that these 23 going into the very special Copa America, they really deserved to be there. Obviously when you get down and you decide on the final 23-man roster, there are very close, tight decisions to make. The moment when you decide, it's about definitely who you feel the strongest about."

RSL defender Demar Phillips and rookie midfielder Omar Holness were initially named to Jamaica's 40-man preliminary roster, but were not part of the final roster.

Phillips has been a mainstay for Jamaica the last decade, but recently picked up a groin strain in RSL's 1-0 loss at Colorado on May 7.

Sixteen national teams from federations in North and South America will convene to celebrate the 45th edition of the tournament since 1916, June 3 through 26. Ten teams from CONMEBOL (South American football confederation) and six from CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Carribbean Association Football) will square off in 10 host cities across the country.
