Murray High athletic director Keeko Georgelas announced the hiring of Todd Thompson as the new football coach of the Spartans.

Thompson is a Murray alumnus, where he played football and eventually went on to play at Southern Utah University. Thompson has assisted several success prep coaches on the sideline, including Summit Academy's Les Hamilton, and has experience coaching wrestling and track.

He replaces Blaine Monkres, who left after one season with the Spartans to accept the head position at Riverton High. After consecutive appearances in the postseason, Murray finished 3-7 in 2016 and failed to qualify for the postseason.
