Logan coach Mike Favero is stepping down from his position after compiling an overall record of 149-60, with five state titles, in 17 years atop the program.

Favero confirmed his decision with The Tribune via text message on Thursday afternoon. He led the Grizzlies to the Class 3AA state championship this season. Favero also refuted rumors about his name being in discussion to become the new offensive coordinator at Utah State.

"I am going to be a fan cheering on former Logan High players playing college football like Jake Thompson, Chasen Andersen, Derek Larsen, DJ Nelson, Luke Falk, Sam Bennion, Troy Murray and next year's Logan high football team," Favero wrote when asked if he was going to coach at USU.

Favero was known for his offensive ingenuity, as one of the first local prep coaches to popularize the spread formation.
