Put on your boogie shoes, people. You're going dancing. Entering the eighth week of the season, 20 teams had already qualified for the postseason. With wins on Friday, 13 more programs joined the party: Bingham, Jordan, Lone Peak, East, Olympus, Timpview, Springville, Juan Diego, Manti, North Sanpete, Altamont, Kanab and Diamond Ranch are all going dancing this postseason.

KICKING MACHINE

Wasatch kicker Skyler Southam booted five field goals in the Wasps' upset victory against Maple Mountain — a huge game considering the postseason implications, with the win likely locking down the No. 2 seed and home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The five field goals tied the single-game UHSAA record. He also established the single-season mark with 19 field goals on the season as he continues to pull further away in the career mark. The senior has split the upright 35 times in his career.

Speaking of kicking. Diamond Ranch's Corey Lewis connected on two bombs in a win against Monticello, booting field goal attempts from 62 and 60 yards.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Ty Jones hauled in 10 receptions for 181 yards and four touchdowns in Provo's win against Alta.

Summit Academy's Justin Miller completed 13 of 15 pass attempts for 245 yards and five touchdowns in a blowout win against Gunnison.

South Sevier's Carter Anderson carried the rock 27 times for 205 yards and three touchdowns to help the Rams pick up their first win of the season against North Sevier.

East's Jalen Warren rumbled for 212 yards on 17 attempts in a win against Box Elder.

Logan's Hunter Horsley threw for 234 yards and five touchdowns in Logan's win against Stansbury.

Jordan quarterback Drew Lisk , who was recently named to MaxPreps' National Player of the Year watch list, threw for 421 yards and six touchdowns in the first half against Copper Hills.

PROVING US WRONG

It was a rough week for Tom Wharton, who finished 3-4, while Brennan Smith and I, who happened to pick the same outcomes in every game this week, posted 5-2 records. Brennan and I owe shout outs to Provo (beat Alta) and Wasatch, which Tom also picked against. You proved us wrong. Tom owes additional thumbs up to Beaver (beat San Juan) and Dixie (beat Hurricane).
