Seeking the second win of the team's season, the Salt Lake City Stars' best player Thursday night came not from the Jazz, but from the Atlanta Hawks. Still, Hawks' assignment player DeAndre' Bembry's 35 points weren't enough, sending the Stars to a 118-110 road loss to the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

The Stars (1-8) built a 10-point lead in the early second quarter, but Los Angeles (7-2) cut the deficit down to three at the break. The Stars led by four as the fourth quarter began, but the D-Fenders pulled away as the game came to a close.

Henry Sims and Sundiata Gaines both scored 20 points to add to Bembry's effort, Vander Blue leading the D-Fenders with 27 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

The Stars next travel to take on the Austin Spurs Saturday at 6 p.m.
