Las Vegas • Four players scored in double-figures. The ball moved to the tune of 14 assists. The defense held Portland to 38 percent shooting.

In many ways on Wednesday night, the Utah Jazz played their best game of the entire summer, a team effort that overwhelmed the Trail Blazers on both ends of the floor at Thomas & Mack Center.

The result was an 86-71 victory in the first tournament game for the Jazz. In what was a rematch of Tuesday's matchup that went to double overtime, Utah turned that defeat into a resounding win, where they held a commanding lead for the final three quarters.

"Our shot selection was good for the most part and we really took care of the ball tonight," Jazz summer league coach Mike Wells said. "We were active defensively and we were active on the boards. I just thought we played a very good all-around game tonight."

With the win, the Jazz advance in the summer league tournament where they will face the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night, a team featuring former BYU great Jimmer Fredette. Playing without its best player Trey Lyles, Utah enjoyed a balanced performance from a number of sources.

Second-year center Tibor Pleiss had his best game of the summer, scoring a game-high 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Joel Bolomboy, the second round pick out of Weber State, scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Once again, he was very good in extended minutes.

Aaron Craft and former Utah State star Spencer Butterfield each scored 11 points. The Jazz move to 2-2 on the Las Vegas summer league. They shot the ball at a 48 percent clip, hit 8-for-15 from 3-point range and won the rebounding battle as well.
