Los Angeles • Gordon Hayward has been frustrated with his play and, after Monday's blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, embarrassed.

On Wednesday night, Hayward roared with pride as he made play after play to help lift his team to a 102-91 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Hayward scored a season-high 33 points — 14 of them in the fourth quarter — and grabbed seven rebounds in a win that snapped a streak of 13 straight losses to the Clippers.

"I just wanted to win, honestly," Hayward said. "We haven't won here against the Clippers [in my career] … I've wanted to for a long time. For us to come in and beat them, especially after the way we played [Monday] and we were all down, that was the reason for it."

Hayward's performance helped negate a 40-point night from Clippers All-Star Blake Griffin. L.A. guard Chris Paul scored 24 as the Clippers dropped to 7-8 on the season.

For Hayward, shots haven't fallen as often as he'd like this season and the Jazz star has drawn some criticism for his slow start — a fact made Jazz coach Quin Snyder chuckle after Wednesday's win.

"I'm sorry. I'm laughing," he said. "Whatever heat Gordon's getting is just misplaced."

But Snyder would admit the forward hasn't lived up to his potential to this point in the season.

"I feel like he's been banging on the door, banging on the door," the coach said. "He hasn't played as well as he can. We saw tonight he really threw himself into the game."

Hayward got some help in this one, too.

All five Jazz starters finished in double-figures, with forward Derrick Favors scoring 22 points and center Rudy Gobert finishing the night with a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double.

The Jazz and Clippers were tied at 45 at halftime.

"It was tied at halftime. From there, we didn't get some stops," said Clippers guard Jamal Crawford. "They got momentum. They got confidence and made shots when they needed to."

In the third quarter, with backup point guard Trey Burke ruled out for the game with back spasms, rookie Raul Neto put together his best performance of the season. He scored 10 points and dished three assists in the period.

The Jazz improved to 7-7 on the season and 5-5 on the road, with a run of 10 home games in their next 14 contests.

"We've been on the road so much," Hayward said. "For the record we have, I thought we've learned a lot. We've had a lot of good experiences."
