If you’re a Utah Jazz fan, you might want to add the NBA’s schedule makers to your list of holiday villains. But while Scrooge and the Grinch eventually came around, and even Scott Farkus got what was coming to him, there might not be a happy ending to this story.

The Jazz’s December is just plain mean.

On this episode of the Weekly Run, the Tribune’s Utah Jazz podcast, Associate Press reporter Kareem Copeland joins us to discuss the daunting stretch that lies ahead for the Jazz, Rudy Gobert’s return from injury, Donovan Mitchell’s Rookie of the Year prospects, and his own impressive sneaker collection.

Here’s a quick rundown of topics:

At 5:05 • The Jazz have already lost four straight — including Wednesday’s defeat in Chicago — and now face the toughest six-game stretch they’ll see all season. Can they steal a game from one of the league’s best?

At 10:15 • It’s been a constant question: can Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors play well together? Right now, though, the Jazz’s top two front court players are even struggling to produce on their own.

At 18:00 • Does Donovan Mitchell have a real shot at winning the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award?

At 26:30 • Is there a point where you should consider this a rebuilding season for the Jazz? Does that label even matter for this team at this point?

At 34:00 • A quick glance around the basketball world: Kareem has a special place in his heart for Trey Burke; Giannis’ dunk on Rudy; and did the Pacers win the Paul George trade?
