Lehi QB Cammon Cooper earns Gatorade Player of the Year honor

(Scott Sommerdorf | The Salt Lake Tribune) Lehi QB Cammon Cooper loos to pass during first half play. Lehi led Olympus 26-0 late in the second half, Friday, September 22, 2017.

Washington State commit Cammon Cooper led Lehi to the Class 5A state championship last month.

He was rewarded by being named the Gatorade Utah football player of the year.

Cooper threw for 4,726 yards and 58 touchdowns in leading the Pioneers to a 12-2 record. He completed 331 of his 523 attempts.

“Cammon Cooper is one of the best quarterbacks I’ve seen in a long time,” Skyline coach Zac Erekson said in a release. “He has the poise of a 30-year-old. Seeing him play live, it’s as if the game is in slow motion for him.”
