Barry Almeida of the Utah Grizzlies has been names the ECHL player of the week, the league announced Tuesday.

Almeida scored five goals and was a plus-5 in two games last week as Utah swept an opening weekend series at Colorado.

The 26-year-old had one goal in a 4-3 overtime win on Friday then scored four times, including the game-winning goal, in a 5-2 victory on Saturday.

A native of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Almeida leads the ECHL in goals, is tied for the league lead in points and is tied for second in plus-minus. He also leads the ECHL in shots with 17.

Almeida has 95 points (43 goals, 52 assists) in 131-game ECHL career, with additional stops in Reading and Cincinnati. He captured a Kelly Cup title with the Royals in 2013.
