Long Beach • Miranda Viramontes threw a perfect game and the Utah softball team (7-0) pushed its shutout streak to five games with a pair of 8-0 victories over Cal State Bakersfield and Long Beach State on Sunday.

Viramontes struck out a season-high seven batters over six innings in the opener.

It was the 28th no-hitter in Utah history and the first perfect game since Katie Donovan's against Nevada on Feb. 20, 2015.

Hannah Flippen had five hits and scored three runs, moving into second place in Utes history with 161 for her career, passing Kate Dickman. The Utah senior is now 16 shy of Katie Rhea's school record.

Utah Valley drops two • In Cathedral City, Calif., the Wolverines closed the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a pair setbacks at the Big League Dreams Sports Park. After falling to Cal Poly, 11-3 in five innings, UVU's comeback bid against UC Davis fell short in a 4-3 loss.

Senior Brittney Vansway had a big weekend, going 6-for-11 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and seven runs batted in.

Dixie State 7, West Texas A&M 6 • In Tucson, Ariz., the Trailblazers (12-2) overcame a 5-2 deficit to win on the final day of the Cactus Classic.

Brenna Hinck led Dixie State, going 2-for-3 with a walk and four RBIs.

Men's tennis

Georgia 4, Utah State 0 • The Aggies ended play at the ITA National Team Indoors with a loss to the 10th-ranked Bulldogs.

Holding a 1-0 lead after doubles play, Georgia won the first three singles matches to clinch the win.

Baseball

Utah 15, Cal State Bakersfield 3 • In Bakersfield, Calif., the Utes had 20 hits and got a seven-run ninth inning in winning the rubber game of the series.

Dallas Carroll led Utah (2-1) at the plate, going 4-for-6 with two RBIs. Josh Lapiana got the win, throwing five innings and allowing one run on six hits with five strikeouts.

Wichita State 6, Utah Valley 5 • In Wichita, Kansas, UVU had a pair of early three-run leads but couldn't hold on, falling to the Shockers (3-0), who swept the three-game series from the Wolverines (0-3).

Dixie State 10, Saint Martin's 3 • In St. George, Bryce Feist had a career-high four hits and Mason Hilty (2-1) scattered eight hits and two earned runs (three total) over 62⁄3 innings as the Trailblazers improved to 8-3.

Men's golf

Southern Utah • In Palm Desert, Calif., junior Fidel Concepcion shot a one-under 71 to bring his three-day total to 217, good enough to finish the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in a tie for 22nd place.

The Thunderbirds shot 921 (322, 299, 300) over the three days of the event at The Classic Club. The Oregon Ducks won the event, shooting a team score of 838.

Women's tennis

Sacramento State 6, Southern Utah 1 • In Sacramento, Calif., the Thunderbirds got a point from junior Mikala Lowrance in No. 2 singles when she earned a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6) victory over Karina Vyrlan.

Grand Canyon 6, Weber State 1 • In Ogden, the Wildcats (0-8) got a point from Caitlin Herb in the No. 1 singles spot, where she defeated Tatum Prudhomme 4-6, 7-6 and 10-3 in the tiebreaker.
