Utah State's renovation plans for Romney Stadium received a big boost Tuesday with the gift of a $1 million donation from Charlie and Trena Denson.

Charlie Denson is a 1978 USU alumnus and a two-year Aggie football letter winner and chairman of Teneo Sports.

Benson credited USU for his success and said he wanted to give back to the school.

"For me it was football and the athletic department that got me to Utah State," he said. "It was certainly my experiences both on the playing field as well as in the classroom, graduating from the school of business that enabled me to pursue a career in my two passions, which were business and sports."

Of the donation, $750,00 will go directly to Romney Stadium renovations while $250,000 will go to the Huntsman School of Business.

Renovations to Romney will include a new press box structure, 24 suites and more than 700 club seats as well as upgrades to the restrooms and concessions. A new sound system and video boards are also planned.
