Posted: 5:37 PM- Jordan High will play another nationally recognized high school football power again this season, coach Alex Jacobson confirmed on Friday.

The Beetdiggers have agreed to face the Massillon (Ohio) Tigers on Aug. 30 in the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge. The game will be played at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio, site of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

"This is huge for us," Jacobson said. "No other team in Utah has ever played in these games. Our kids are absolutely pumped to go to the Hall of Fame and to also play against one of the most well-known programs in the country."

The classic includes 12 games, but the Jordan-Massillon game will be the fourth played that day at Fawcett Stadium. The others will be played in other Ohio cities.

Massillon has won 22 state championships and is No. 3 in the country all-time in wins, behind only No. 1 Valdosta, Ga., and No. 2 Male of Lexington, Ky.

Ironically, the Beetdiggers have traveled to Georgia the last two years to face Valdosta, winning the first easily and losing last year in the final seconds.

Jacobson said it was those games that convinced Kirk Herbstreit's organizers to ask the Beetdiggers to play in their classic.

Jordan is expected to have one of the better teams in 5A this season. Senior lineman Vyncent Jones has committed to Utah and another lineman, Kyle Johnson, is close to landing some Division I offers, Jacobson said.
