The 6-foot-11 forward, who entered his name into the NBA Draft last month, has signed with Mark Bartelstein and Priority Sports, which means he forfeits his final year of collegiate eligibility.
Plaisted has spent the last few weeks working out in California in preparation for the draft.
BYU junior guard Lee Cummard is also exploring his draft options, but hasn't signed with an agent.
Players have until June 16 to withdraw their name from draft consideration as long as they have not signed with an agent. The draft is June 26 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
ESPN.com's Chad Ford projects Plaisted as a mid-to-high 20's pick while other projections have Plaisted as a second-round selection or not drafted at all. First-round picks are the only players to receive guaranteed contracts.
The 6-foot-11 Plaisted averaged 15.6 points and 7.7 rebounds last season as BYU captured its second straight Mountain West Conference regular-season title. He scored 13 points in his final collegiate game, a 67-62 loss to Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Plaisted's absence leaves BYU with a hole to fill inside next season.
The Cougars return post players Chris Miles, James Anderson and Gavin MacGregor while freshman forward Chris Collinsworth has left to serve a two-year LDS mission in Australia.
Forward Noah Hartsock is returning from a mission, and BYU signed guard/forward Charles Abouo.
