Marc Fleisher, Kirilenko's agent, said the Russian forward was arranging visas for his family to travel to France this summer, and had talked to the team in advance about taking care of things.
There was no further explanation, except that Kirilenko is expected to play in Friday's Game 6. The Jazz will be facing elimination, trailing the Lakers 3-2 in the series, and trying to force a Game 7 back at Staples Center on Monday.
"You don't have to win two tomorrow," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "You just have to win one game and that's the focus you have to have. I think it's exciting, myself. I always have loved to be in those situations. If you like to play, what better position could you be in to try to play?"
The Jazz never led in Wednesday's Game 5 but had five possessions in the second half with the chance to take the lead. They missed four shots on those possessions, along with a Ronnie Brewer turnover and Mehmet Okur missed free throw.
"We had the basketball inside," Sloan said. "You can't get the basketball inside much more than what we did, in my opinion. I haven't seen all of it, but to get the basketball inside, you've got to come away with something and we couldn't come away with a free throw or basket."
