Posted: 1:00 PM- Leilani Mitchell, the Utah point guard, has been drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in the second round of today's WNBA draft.
Mitchell, who was projected as a third round pick in many mock drafts, was selected with the 25th pick overall by the team that won the league championship a season ago.
Mitchell, who was an All-American this past season, led the Utes to a perfect regular season in the Mountain West Conference. She also led her team to the NCAA Tournament, where they were ousted in the first round by Purdue University.
Mitchell is the first Ute player to be drafted since 2006, when the duo of Kim Smith and Shona Thorburn were picked in the first round.
