Posted: 8:42 PM- MINNEAPOLIS -- So much for the schedule saving four games against the Minnesota Timberwolves to help the Jazz continue their climb up the Western Conference standings in the season's final eight weeks.

The conference's worst team came back to bite the Jazz on Tuesday night at Target Center. The Jazz went into the fourth quarter tied but collapsed and trailed by as many as 15 as Minnesota went on to a 111-100 win at Target Center.

The Timberwolves had four players -- Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, Randy Foye and Rashad McCants -- score more than 20 points. Carlos Boozer led the Jazz with 34 points, but Utah committed a season-high 24 turnovers.

The Jazz (36-21) squandered the chance to take a 3 1-2 game lead over Denver in the Northwest Division. They will put their 14-game home winning streak on the line tonight against Detroit, with the Eastern Conference's second-best record at 42-15.

It was too tall a task for the Jazz to get past a 12-43 Timberwolves team. The Jazz lost the fourth quarter 39-28 and Minnesota scored 16 more points than its season average.

The Jazz struggled to stop the Timberwolves all game and switched to a zone defense trailing 90-82 with 4:52. But Gomes busted the zone with a three-pointer to put Minnesota ahead by 11.

Okur went 3-for-10 and endured one of his worst nights of the season.

After the Gomes three-pointer, Okur faked a shot and tried to drive, only to have the ball poked free from behind. Gomes sank two free throws at the other end.

The Timberwolves put away the game as Craig Smith went behind his back before passing to McCants for a basket. Foye hit a fadeaway rainbow over Boozer with 1:38 left.

Okur went into the fourth quarter 1-for-7 and passed on two shots before coming up short on a jumper. Foye drilled a three-pointer for Minnesota, the start of what became a 7-0 run.

Matt Harpring missed a shot in the post against Kirk Snyder and the Timberwolves scored at the other end as Smith pounded in a basket after three offensive reounds. Paul Millsap missed for a Jazz and Gomes scored off a Snyder pass.

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan called timeout with his team trailing 84-76.

Deron Williams and Boozer returned for the Jazz, but Williams missed a jumper and McCants beat Kyle Korver for a layup as Minnesota went ahead by 10.

Despite trailing by six points in the third quarter, the Jazz went into the fourth quarter tied 72-72. It felt like a monumental accomplishment given their 21 turnovers, which Minnesota converted for 16 points. The Jazz's season-high was 22 turnovers.

The Jazz shot 53.3 percent and got 17 points from Carlos Boozer but went into halftime trailing 52-47. They were plagued by stripped balls, offensive fouls and careless passes, however, and committed 14 turnovers in the first half.

The Timberwolves came in averaging just 93.4 points a game, 29th in the NBA, but forced the Jazz to turn to a zone defense in the second quarter. Minnesota hit four three-pointers in the first half and got 23 points from Rashad McCants and Foye.
