Gymnastics: Utes will be without Robarts against UCLA

Posted: 2:48 PM- LOS ANGELES - Utah's second-ranked gymnastics team is facing its toughest test today since the season opener against Georgia as they take on No. 9 UCLA. Unfortunately the Utes will be without freshman Kyndal Robarts.

Robarts has a sprained medial collateral ligament and won't compete.

Junior Nina Kim, who has missed the last two meets with a sprained foot, will only compete on the balance beam.

Robarts was expected to compete everything but the uneven bars, and Kim should be in the all-around when her foot heals.

Utah has won the last four regular-season meets against the Bruins and is on a 7-meet win streak. The Bruins are undefeated as well.

Kim, who hasn't trained the event for the last two weeks, was brought along on the trip originally only if the Utes needed her on the uneven bars. Utah coach Greg Marsden changed his mind during warmups and told Kim she was going on the balance beam.

Asked about her long layoff, Marsden said: "The way I look at it, she has been training it for the last 15 years," he said.
