D-League: 14ers able to steal victory from Flash

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Utah blew a 13-point first half lead as the Colorado 14ers got a steal and layup in the final minute of Tuesday night's game to seal their 95-93 win.

Morris Almond scored 15 of his game-high 31 points in the first quarter for the Flash (15-15), who raced out to a big advantage and ultimately led 55-50 at halftime.

But the 14ers increased their defensive intensity in the second half, holding Utah to just 38 points after the break - including 16 in the pivotal fourth quarter.

The game wound up featuring 14 lead changes between the teams, and was ultimately decided by a last-minute turnover.

With 20 seconds to play, Colorado guard Billy Thomas picked off Utah's Kevin Kruger, then fed Kaniel Dickens - a former Utah Jazz draft pick - for the go-ahead layup.

The Flash's Curtis Stinson then came up short on a 14-foot attempt, the the 14ers held on to snap their three-game losing streak.

Dickens and former Weber State guard Eddie Gill led Colorado (15-12) with 17 points apiece. Brian Jackson, James Lang and Lamar Rice each scored 10 for Utah.
