He wasn't about to argue with the results, though, as the Jazz set a franchise record by hitting 14 of 22 three-pointers in Monday night's 110-88 victory against the New Orleans Hornets.
The Jazz extended their NBA-best winning streak to nine games - their longest winning streak since March 2000 - and won for the 21st time in 24 games at EnergySolutions Arena this season.
Of course, the final score also might have been 29-6, advantage Deron Williams in his second showdown with Hornets guard Chris Paul. Williams led the Jazz with 29 points and 11 assists and turned the second half into a highlight show.
Paul, meanwhile, spent the night in foul trouble and finished with just six points and six assists. Kyle Korver hit six three-pointers for the Jazz - one shy of his career-high - and finished with 20 points for the Jazz.
The Jazz broke a 12-plus-year-old record for made three-pointers in a game. The previous record was 13 in a Dec. 7, 1995 game against Denver.
It wasn't quite the Jazz's fourth wire-to-wire win in five games - the Hornets led twice in the first quarter - but it was enough for their 11th straight home win. The Jazz have the possibility of taking a 13-game winning streak into the All-Star break.
Williams was electric in the third quarter, starting when he beat Paul on a drive and elevated for a dunk that Tyson Chandler thought better of contesting. Williams had 12 points in the quarter and drained two more three-pointers.
The Jazz broke open the game by hitting five three-pointers as part of a 15-4 run to start the second quarter. Korver drilled four three-pointers as the Jazz opened a 36-24 run. Ronnie Price assisted on three of the three-pointers and stripped Paul twice.
Although New Orleans scored nine straight points to climb back in the game, the Jazz closed the half on a 7-0 run for a 50-39 lead. Mehmet Okur hit his second three-pointer of the quarter and Ronnie Brewer stole a Paul pass and took in in for a dunk.
The Jazz, who were hitting a league-worst 3.6 three-pointers a game before Korver's arrival, set two franchise records by making seven in the second quarter and eight for the half. Korver had four, Okur three and Williams one.
Paul was on his way to the bench with his second foul only 5:39 into the game, after holding Williams in the lane on an inbounds play and trying to deny him a post-up inside. Paul stayed on the floor only 5:17 in the third quarter, leaving with five fouls.
