A third Utah high school football standout has decided to take his talents to an out-of-state Division I football program.

Park City defensive tackle Colt Nichter has orally committed to attend Vanderbilt University, he told The Salt Lake Tribune.

"I just felt the most comfortable there, and the coaches are really down to earth," Nichter said. "Plus, I can get a great education."

Nichter had given Washington State a soft commitment after visiting Pullman two weekends ago, but a visit to Vanderbilt changed his mind.

The 6-foot-2, 275-pound senior also had offers from Bowling Green and Weber State.

The other two known Utah preps who have committed to non-Utah programs are Judge Memorial's Lewis Walker and Cottonwood's Lynn Katoa.

Walker has committed to Hawaii, while Katoa has signed with Colorado and is currently in school there, having graduated early from Cottonwood.

In other recruiting news, Cole Loftin, a receiver from Aledo (Texas) High, has de-committed from the University of Utah and orally committed to Southern Methodist University, according to the Web site Utezone.com.

Nichter is the third high school player from Utah to give a verbal to an out-of-state Division I program
