Posted: 8:05 AM- Morgan Wood, a 6-foot-2 senior center at Beaver High, has verbally committed to play basketball for Southern Utah University's women's program, she confirmed Tuesday.

Wood said she will sign with the Thunderbirds during the upcoming fall signing period. The three-year starter averaged 17.2 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game last season for Beaver and helped the team to a 17-7 record.

Wood was a Salt Lake Tribune 2-A first-team all-state selection as a junior and a second-team selection as a sophomore.

She is ranked as one of the top post prospects in the state by the Intermountain Hoops Scouting Service.

She has played the past three years with the Salt Lake Metro club basketball team and is the fourth member of that team to make a commitment to a Division I school the past few months, joining Box Elder's Mandy Munns (Utah), Timpview's Alexis Kaufusi (BYU) and Canyon View's Cassie Platt (SUU).
