Posted: 5:20 PM- LEHI -- Champions Tour stars Mike Reid and Mark O'Meara teamed to win the Sorenson Champions Challenge golf tournament at Thanksgiving Point Golf Club today, firing a 16-under-par 55 to win by two shots.
Reid, from Orem, and O'Meara, who has a home in Park City, earned $50,000 apiece for the victory.
Farmington's Daniel Summerhays and Provo's Todd Miller took second place and will split $75,000, meaning its the biggest check ($37,500) ever for Summerhays, who turned pro last month after winning an event on the Nationwide Tour.
Jack Nicklaus II and Ian Baker-Finch placed third at 58 and won $25,000 apiece. Former BYU golfers Mike Weir and Dean Wilson placed fourth at 59.
Reid and O'Meara birdied all five of Thanksgiving Point's par-3s and Reid chipped in for eagle on a par-4, meaning the seniors had six 2s on their scorecard.
