Jazz regional scout Brad Jones will be named head coach of the Utah Flash today at a news conference at the Zions Bank Basketball Center in Salt Lake City, The Tribune has learned.

The Utah County-based Flash, who will be affiliated with the Jazz, are one of two new teams in the NBA Developmental League.

Jones was nearly hired as a Jazz bench coach two years ago, after longtime assistant Gordon Chiesa left for New Jersey. But that job ended up going to Scott Layden.

Flash owner Brandt Andersen, general manager David Fredman, Jazz vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor and head coach Jerry Sloan are expected to attend the announcement of Jones' hiring.
