Posted: 5:44 PM- Speedskater Chad Hedrick accidentally spoiled the surprise Tuesday, letting slip that the U.S. short-track speedskating team soon will be moving its base of operations to the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns.
Long-track speedskaters have trained at the oval for years, and U.S. Speedskating relocated its national headquarters there from Ohio last year. But the organization had yet to announce the short-track move from the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., and executive director Bob Crowley said it wanted to wait until after the team finished its season this weekend at the World Championships at Milan, Italy.
"When it's time to make that announcement - should that be the final decision - we will bring the short-track team over here and we'll have a press conference with the short-track team," he said.
