Lelie signed a two-year contract with San Francisco on Monday, the fourth prominent free agent to join the 49ers during a four-day spending spree that included re-signing several of their own free agents.
The 49ers reached a tentative agreement during the weekend with Lelie, a fleet deep threat who had a disappointing season with Atlanta in 2006, catching just 28 passes for 430 yards after being traded by the Broncos late in training camp.
But San Francisco is again in need of a top receiver after cutting troubled Antonio Bryant on Thursday. Coach Mike Nolan believes Lelie can return to the form he showed during four strong seasons in Denver, when he had 3,003 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns while twice leading the NFL in yards per catch.
Colts re-sign former Cougar
The Indianapolis Colts re-signed veteran linebacker Rob Morris, who was moved into the starting lineup for the playoffs as the team's defense helped spark its run to the Super Bowl championship.
Morris had been an unrestricted free agent.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Morris, 32, was the Colts' first-round draft pick 2000 draft and was the starting middle linebacker for four seasons before coming off the bench during 2005 and much of last season.
He had 48 tackles during the 2006 regular season, followed by 21 tackles, including 17 solo tackles, during the Colts' four playoff victories.
Davis teams with Dallas
Leonard Davis got exactly what he wanted by signing with the Dallas Cowboys.
It was more than just the money: a seven-year contract worth nearly $50 million. It was a return home after six disappointing seasons in Arizona, where the 6-foot-6, 372-pound offensive lineman never became the dominating Pro Bowl-level player so many envisioned after he was the No. 2 pick out of Texas in 2001.
The deal with the Cowboys includes $18.75 million in guaranteed money, a team-record $16 million signing bonus and a $2.75 million salary for 2007.
