JAZZ: Boozer, Kirilenko both out

The Jazz's status as one of the NBA's healthiest teams, a major change from the past two injury-plagued seasons, is in jeopardy, at least for a day or two. For the first time all season, two starters likely will be missing from Utah's lineup tonight against New Jersey.

Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko received treatment on their injuries Sunday, and both are improving, athletic trainer Gary Briggs said. But Boozer will not play against the Nets, his first absence of the season, and Kirilenko will probably sit out his second straight game to let his sprained right ankle heal.

"We won't know much [about when Boozer might return] until we do more tests," Briggs said. Some mild swelling remained in Boozer's left knee Sunday afternoon, when the Jazz's leading scorer and rebounder had an MRI taken. Briggs would not comment on the results.

Boozer was injured when his knee struck Tyson Chandler's knee while both players tried to reach an entry pass to the Hornets center during the first quarter of Saturday's 94-83 loss in Oklahoma City.

Kirilenko, who wore a protective boot on his foot Saturday, said he expects to return sometime this week.
