BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Utah Grizzlies scored two short-handed goals but couldn't complete the comeback, losing 3-2 to the Bakersfield Condors on Friday night.

Bakersfield took a 1-0 lead at the 10:14 mark of the first period, then made it 2-0 just over a minute later. Only 47 seconds into the second period, the Condors went up 3-0.

Utah finally got on the scoreboard late in the period when Louis Dumont set up Brad Herauf's short-handed goal at 16:42. The Grizzlies added another short-handed goal, on the same penalty-kill situation when Matt Craig put one away to cut the lead to 3-2 going into the final period.

The third period saw chances on both sides, including a disallowed goal by Utah late in the period, but neither team was able to put the puck away. Goalie Marty Magers held on for his second win over Utah in as many games, and Alfie Michaud took the loss for the Grizzlies. Utah's leading scorer on the season, Ryan Kinasewich, did not play because of a violation of team rules.
