Sami Cornelison

RICH BASKETBALL

The Rebels' junior post player had a strong showing at the Class 1-A state tournament last week. Cornelison scored an average of 18 points per game and led Rich in a third-place performance at the state tournament and a 22-3 overall record.

In Rich's semifinal against Panguitch, Cornelison limited last year's 1-A MVP, Halie Sawyer, to 14 points while scoring 14 of her own. She also led the Rebels in scoring against Wayne in the first round with 18 points, against Monticello in the quarterfinals with 20 points, and against Tabiona in the final round, again with 20 points.

Griff Robles

SPANISH FORK BASKETBALL

Robles played the game of his life last week, and at less than 100 percent.

Robles, who was dealing with a bothersome sinus infection, scored 10 points in the fourth quarter of Spanish Fork's 59-54 win over Pleasant Grove. The Dons' win put them in a first-place tie in Region 4 with the Vikings.

Robles finished the game with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He sank two foul shots to tie the game in the fourth quarter, then made a layup to give Spanish Fork the lead for good.
